About the Author

Los Angeles native, Latoya Christman, is an author, mother,

speaker, mentor and licensed minister, currently residing in

Houston, TX. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Bennett College for Women in Greensboro, NC.Post graduation, Christman became a Correctional Officer in Houston for 2 years, prior to becoming a Parole Officer, in

2008.

At age 27, Christman got married and gave birth to her

daughter shortly after. A year into her marriage, she and her

husband separated. After the sudden loss of her foster father and enduring a divorce, Christman moved back home to aid

her grieving foster mother, as she simultaneously healed from her divorce and took on a new role as a single mother.

Christman's life experiences led her to write A Hidden

Treasure Behind a Wounded Heart. In her book, she opens up

about being taken away from her biological parents at four

years old, life in foster care, joining a local gang, overcoming a divorce, rededicating her life to Christ and single

parenthood.

Currently working full time,  the 36-year-old is also a certified life coach with a goal to start her own non-profit organization to assist women who have recently been released from prison and are transitioning back into society. Her future  goal is to train and equip church leaders to walk in the power and authority God has given them by assisting in setting goals for their church, actions to achieve the goals and mobilize resources to execute the actions. Her hope one day is to see a community of believers operating in their gifts according to Gods word.
